Initial Evaluation + 2 Complementary Progress Exams

The evaluation is the initial consultation. This allows for Dr. Nixon to evaluate your pet and come up with the best customized therapy strategy possible.

  • 1 hour session
  • Progress exams at 4-6 week and  again at the 8-12 week
  • One on one time to ask questions to the doctor
  • Home exercise program specific to your pet in between appointments
Underwater Treadmill

The pool or treadmill, is an important component of rehabilitative therapy to facilitate movement and speed up recovery.

  • Water aids in pain relief
  • Water increases metabolism
  • Water improves core strength
  • Arthritic dogs stand to gain mobility and increased quality of life 
Laser Therapy

Laser applies focused light energy at the cellular level. End result is cell metabolism is increased and tissue repair stimulated.

  • Class IV LASER therapy and 3b LASER therapy
  • Improvement is often not always seen after the first visit, sometimes it can take up to 4 treatments to see improvement
  • Occasionally, some dogs actually fall asleep during their laser therapy session or we give them treats to keep them occupied.
Massage Therapy

This is to increase muscle length, flexibility, and range of motion. It also involves the therapist applying hands-on techniques to achieve beneficial movement of joints and muscles.

  • This is used used in the rehab program to increase circulation, reduce pain and improve function
  • Athletic dogs also need regular stretching to prevent performance-related injuries
  • Pro Tip: Heat is especially soothing to arthritic patients
Spinal Manipulation

Spinal Manipulation is a gentle, hands-on technique that helps restore normal motion to the spine and joints.

  • beneficial for dogs recovering from injuries, dealing with age-related stiffness, or competing in sports
  • adjustment is tailored to your pet’s comfort and performed by trained professional
Lymphatic Massage

The rhythmic massage technique is specially designed to stimulate your dog’s lymphatic system, helping move lymph fluid through the body to support detoxification and boost immune function.

  • Reduce edema and support detox
  • Improve circulation and tissue healing
  • Ease chronic conditions like lymphedema
  • Promote relaxation and energy balance
Acupuncture

Veterinary acupuncture can assist the body to heal itself by effecting certain physiologic changes.

  • Cats and dogs have key acupuncture points in their bodies much like humans
  • Treatment times will vary from 15-25 minutes depending on method
  • Dr. Nixon will discuss which method is best for your pet and their conditions
  • * Only licensed veterinarians can perform acupuncture
Holistic Services

Holistic consultations are performed by Dr. Diane Gabriel.

  • Interested in nutrition, homotoxicology, homeopathic methods or supportive end of life treatments
  • Incorporating Chinese & Western techniques to aid in your pets comfort.
Pool

While swimming can be an excellent exercise, it is not for every pet.

  • If you are interested in this modality, it’s best to speak with Dr. Nixon in an evaluation.
  • We always start our patients in life jackets at the Animal Therapy Center.
  • Therapists will assess and determine if your pet will require a life jacket long term
